Re: I'm a right wing hater.
Quote: The USSR was brought down by economic problems brought about because of cold war military spending. Sampa, The USSR's economic problems stemmed from their communist system. They just could not compete with a capitalist nation. Communist will always fail. Quote: Do you think the US should continue to police the planet if that fate looms over us? Absolutely not. However, we are not even close to policing the planet. There are several places in the world that need our help and we just cannot be there. Quote: If the US collapses, then we will have a failed state with the largest arsenal of weapons on the planet. This seems like a recipe for disaster. You make a good point. We need to get our financial house in order. We are facing serious consequences from the big government tax and spend policies of the last fifty years. A big part of that has been the result of failed social programs as well as incompetence in military spending. Quote: One of Bin Laden's stated aims is to destroy the US economically by making us react to terrorist attacks in very expensive ways. Do you think we would be playing into his hands by following the policy you describe We don't need Bin Laden to destroy our economy. We seem quite capable of doing it without him. The department of education, a total waste of money. The department of homeland security, a total waste of money. FEMA, a total waste of money. You could cut the President's cabinet in half and we would all be better off, You could cut the remaining departments in half and we would all be better off. I agree with you on many of the government programs that could be cut. I would go further and massively cut our military as well. I think I'll 'take a stand' on that, actually.

Quote: If I use the ballot to cause the government to grow, under what circumstances are you entitled to repudiate my freedom by using the bullet to override my wishes?
What is your answer considering this clarification of my question? It is not a question of entitlement. I'm not entitled to use violence, no individual is. However, revolution is a fact of life. There comes a boiling point where citizens will band together to form militias to overthrow oppressive governments. What circumstances would precipitate that in our country is unknown to me. I think it highly unlikely anything like that will happen in your lifetime. Here in the U.S. we have the hope of the ballot box and that hope is alive and well. I agree with this observation.

Re: I'm a right wing hater.
I believe the main reason most people on the left support abortion is not because they would ever have an abortion themselves but because of eugenics. They believe we are all better off not having those unwanted trouble makers around. So, the social right sees protecting children as a legitimate role of government, while the left approves of "improving" the gene pool through government sanction. That is heavy handed government. Do you have any evidence in support of this belief?

Quote: Do you have any evidence in support of this belief? (Spblat wrote this.) Evidence for the Left's support for eugenics is ubiquitous. Just look around. I found this easily: http://blackgenocide.org/sanger.html

Re: I'm a right wing hater.
Why do you consider the linked post on this website "evidence" for your view? Is the website objective? Is there careful and objective evidence presented to support your view in this article? Or is the article itself an essay presenting an unsupported (and unsupportable) opinion? Do you think my two friends lied to me when they told me of their very personal reasons to have abortions? Do you think these two well-educated young women chose abortion because of eugenics?!

Re: I'm a right wing hater.
Quote: Do you think these two well-educated young women chose abortion because of eugenics?! Poet, No I do not. Do you believe nobody on the left is proabort because of eugenics? Margaret Sanger certainly was. I was careful in my earlier post to say that those who would never have an abortion, but are still proabort, were so because of eugenics. Thus, I was excluding people like your two friends. Also, I'm not saying every proabort believes in eugenics. However, most of the proaborts I have talked with, believe to some degree that the world is better off without all those unwanted children. They would even go so far as to believe the children are better off. That is eugenics in my book.

Re: I'm a right wing hater.
What does any of this have to do with your original point?

What is a "proabort"? I've never heard this term before.

What is a "proabort"? I've never heard this term before. Arlo, is part of being a 'hater' making up names for those you disagree with to dehumanize them and make it easier to hate them? The people you are refering to as 'proabort', have a simple, easy to understand name that they call themselves. It is 'prochoice'.
